Impulse 2.0
The Impulse 2.0 motor is an electric bike assistance system developed by the German group Derby Cycle, known for brands such as Kalkhoff, Raleigh, Focus, and Univega. It made a mark on the e-bike market in the 2010s thanks to several technical innovations, including the integration of a central motor compatible with a back-pedalling brake.
The Impulse 2.0 model was presented at the Eurobike show in 2013 and was marketed from 2014. This second generation significantly improves the motor's behaviour, gear shifting, and the progression of assistance.

Reputation and reliability
The Impulse 2.0 motor has been appreciated for:
- its smooth assistance,
- its high torque for the time,
- its natural behaviour,
- its long ranges with the 603 Wh batteries.
However, over time, some users and workshops have reported issues with mechanical or electronic reliability, particularly on motors that have been heavily or lightly used while the motor is no longer in production.
