How to install our adapters on an electric bike?
Tutorial. Installing an adapter on an electric bike frame (e-bike) to replace its broken motor is a very simple operation that does not require any specific technical skills. However, you need to be careful about certain points. Here are the steps to follow.

Step 1: remove the original motor
The most technical step is the removal of the original motor if the frame or bike you own is still equipped with one.
If you are a professional, refer to the technical documentation from the manufacturer. For Shimano, for example, go here.
If you are a private individual, seek help from a professional mechanic, a repair workshop, or a self-repair organization.
❗ Performing the operation yourself can involve some dangers. Motors are under electrical tension and their removal requires mechanical knowledge.
⚠️ Be sure to keep the motor mounting screws. They are often specific to the bike frame.
Step 2: check the model and compatibility of the frame
Once the motor is removed, check the model using the serial number inscribed or the documentation technical documentation provided with the electric bike (examples: EP8, PW-X)
Then check that the bike frame properly respects the motor mounting points. In other words, check that the mounting holes are directly opposite each other (unless it is specified on our adapter's sheet that the holes are not aligned).
⚠️ It may happen (rarely) that the frame manufacturer decides to attach to the motor differently on one side, making it impossible to mount with our adapter. This has been observed, for example, on a Haibike e-MTB equippedwith Bosch BDU250P CX Gen 2 (see photo opposite).
✅ No problem with Shimano and Brose as long as the model is properly identified.
Step 3: installation of the adapter
Once the frame is freed from its motor, all that remains is to install the adapter corresponding to the model intended for the frame.
In many cases, it is strongly recommended to reuse the original screws and fixings because the screws are provided by the frame manufacturer and not by the motor manufacturer. For other models, such as the Shimano EP8 adapter, we provide the screws. Follow the recommendations from the product sheets of our adapters.
Then all that remains is to position the adapter in place and secure it according to the tightening instructions.
Step 4: final assembly
The frame of the electric (cargo) bike equipped with its adapter, you now have the choice between keeping it muscular or re-electrifying it.
It is important here to properly check the compatibility of the proposed assembly with the frame and the geometry of the electric bike.
