The main supports used in electrification kits

When we talk about battery supports for electrification kits, it is not just about the battery but also the case + fixing rail. Each family of cases has its own support, dimensions, and capacity.

1. Hailong (Shark)

Hailong battery and support

This is the most common support on Bafang, Tongsheng kits...

Features:

  • Rail screwed onto bottle holder inserts.
  • Sliding battery locked by key.
  • Available in several sizes (Hailong 1, 2, Max).
  • Typical capacity: 10 to 25 Ah.

Advantages:

  • Very easy to replace.
  • Wide choice of batteries.
  • Numerous mounting accessories.

2. Polly DP (DP-5, DP-6, DP-7, DP-9)

polly battery and mount

The Polly family is an evolution of the Hailong cases.

Features:

  • Rail similar to the Hailong.
  • Larger cases.
  • Suitable for modern 21700 cells.
  • Capacities can exceed 1200 Wh.

The DP-9 can accommodate up to 91 cells depending on the configuration.

Interest for a cargo bike:

Excellent choice when range is a priority.

3. "Bottle" batteries

bottle battery

It is designed to take the place of a traditional bottle holder on the bike's down tube.

Its name comes from its shape, which resembles a bottle or a large bike canister.

Features

  • Mounting on bottle holder inserts.
  • Narrow and discreet rail.
  • Removable battery with lock.
  • Generally thinner than a Hailong.

At the level of the mount

The mount is generally much simpler than a Hailong mount:

  • aluminium or plastic rail,
  • two standard M5 bottle holder screws,
  • sometimes a third anchoring point.
